EVIL DEAD Timeline finally updated with Season 3!

This is it. This is the end. It has been a long ride.

 

Ash has won.

 

In the while, I completed the EVIL DEAD DEFINITIVE TIMELINE with Timeline 5 (Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 Episode 9 and 10) and Timeline 6 (Ash vs Evil Dead Season 3).

 

Basically, the 1982's Ruby survived the deletion of Timeline 5 and "materialized" in the 1982 of Timeline 6 - the "primary" timeline.

So in Timeline 6, we have TWO Rubys operating at the same time since 1982. After Season 2, Ruby 2 (the "time remnant" of Timeline 5) just started to work on her grand scheme against Ash...

NEW, DEFINITIVE TIMELINE SCENARIO

Okay,

 

Okay.

 

Everything changed. Everything. Especially with Season 2.

 

 

The timeline is alterable/revisable. The timeline was modified many times. There's one cabin. There's one Ash (less or more). There's one book. There are 5 versions (so far) of the very same timeline.

 

Most of the discrepancies between The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II, as well as between Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, can be explained as the product of Ash's damaged brain and traumatized mind. First of all.

The Nexus, the time vortex, did the rest.

 

And so, the timeline changed. Thus, each ending is canon. The ED2 ending is canon, but not the way as you previously thought. The ARMY ending is canon. Even the "recaps" at the beginning of the sequels are obviously canon (Ash's twisted memory).

Ash vs Evil Dead Episode 20: "Second Coming" - SPOILERS

 

SUPERB. Just like:

Episode 8, 9, 10 and 19. This is EVIL DEAD, guys. This is the spirit. Groovy!

I loved every bit of this episode. Every second. Terrific direction. Terrific visuals. Ash looked and sounded very serious, he reminded me of "the" Ash of EVIL DEAD II. There was some drama from his part, sure as hell. 

Just a little premise:

 

Episode 19 just showed us that Ash has "reminiscences" from previous continuities/iterations of the alterable Evil Dead timeline. This pretty much validates my Plastic Universe Theory. Just rewatch the sequence in which he has two juxtaposing memories about "where he originally found the Book of the Dead, 30 years ago". Just brilliant.

So basically, this is my step-by-step analysis of Episode 20:

1- The fight with Evil Henrietta was gory, scary, "delicious" and very ARMY-like, all rolled into one. This is one of the biggest and most thrilling moments in the whole TV series. In the original timeline, Tanya was meant to die anyway, so that's not a big of deal. She was "already dead", sorry. 

Her bloody face reminded me of Mia. Astonishing.

2- The escape from the Knowby Cabin reminded me of EVIL DEAD II. Pablo was Baal. The new hand growing from nothing was just some kind of "quantic resonance" playing out in the ALTERED TIMELINE. It was a nice nod to many time travel movies featuring REVISABLE timelines. The new hand was genuine, and not Baal using his demon powers to fool Ash. As simple as that, there was a kind of mystical connection between Old Ash and Young Ash at that point, and the hand just regenerated from nothing.
Later, the hand being possessed was a "solid illusion" created by Baal. The Kandarian Demon wasn't there anymore.

3- Chet and Bad Cheryl were just "solid illusions" created by Baal.
I'm not entirely sure about Brock... but maybe even Brock was an illusion created by Baal. The chainsaw wasn't an illusion, and perhaps Real Brock truly helped Ash.
Don't forget that the second chainsaw (the one Baal was manning) was the UNALTERED Evil Dead II chainsaw previously stored in the toolshed.
Or maybe, Baal wanted Ash to fight and "Brock" and the chainsaw were just "staged" by him and his demon powers.

And yes, there was a BIG HINT to the secret of Episode 13... "me and you"... "the reality"... hey, this is meant to be solved in the next seasons! Relax. Don't hurry up.

4- The DEAL was not "altered" by Ruby. It was "respected", wherever Baal wanted to cheat. Ruby made Baal "mortal" for real, despite keeping his demon powers intact. It was a smart move.

5- Pablo is saved. And well, he has no "Book powers" anymore. So they cannot come back home (2016), which brings us to the last point...

6- THE PARADE is an illusion created by Ruby. You can see the "dream-like slow motion" sometimes. The colors are unnatural. The cinematography is also "dream-like". Even Ash is questioning the reality at the very end, noticing it seemed too "perfect". LMAO. It was evident. It felt very "Dexter Season One Finale".

My theory. There's one timeline. They altered it. But they are still stuck in 1982, and Ruby fabricated this "Alternate Elk Groke Reality" to keep the heroes caged in some way. It's a mental reality. They are physically trapped somewhere in 1982.

Or:

 

They travelled to an Alternate 1982 (parallel universe).

They changed the timeline of THAT specific Evil Dead universe, not theirs.

I'm working on a standalone section for the AvED Universe.

 

On the other hand, I'm working on an alternative theory which gets rid of my well-established scenario and attempts to make sense of the trilogy and the TV series, taking in account the incongruences. Just give me a bit of time. I'm writing...

Evil Dead Fan Film Project

Message from the BIGGEST Evil Dead site, "BOOK OF THE DEAD":

"As some who keep track of my Evil Dead fansite (http://www.bookofthedead.ws) will know, I've been working on an Evil Dead short fanfilm for some months.

I've shot the film's intro/credits sequence out of my own pocket to use as a 'trailer', and you can see that below. It's entirely new footage shot by myself, there is no footage from any of the Evil Dead Trilogy of films used anywhere in it, although there are a few closely matching shots. Copyright permission for the 'Book Of The Dead' & 'Kandarian Dagger' to be replicated & shown has been given by their copyright owner: Tom Sullivan.

This intro/credits sequence tells little snippets of the story of the 'Book Of The Dead', how it was first found, Professor Knowby translating it at the cabin, and skimming over the events of The Evil Dead, leading into to what will be the start of the main film. It was shot using three actors (myself included) over four locations using seven mini-sets taking nine weeks from start to finish, including all the prop/set purchase & construction work. This includes sets of an archaeological dig, the Professor's desk & fireplace in the cabin, as well as little sections of the cellar and workshed too. While based around The Evil Dead, eagle eyed fans might spot that I've also borrowed some little prop/set details from Evil Dead II as well.

The full fanfilm script treats the first film, The Evil Dead, as a single event (ignoring Evil Dead II & Army Of Darkness), my film will be a continuation of these original events. It'll be more of a scary ghost story like the first film, as opposed to the action/adventure of the second & third films, and won't feature any of the existing main characters from the series in the body of the film. The script has already been written (which will come in around the 20-30 minute mark depending on the budget raised), a budget calculated, and set & prop designs finalized.

About Army of Darkness.

 

Ash was mad and unpredictable, not an idiot. Never.

 

He survived weeks and weeks of captivity, being treated like a war prisoner and a slave. Tortured as well.
He managed to destroy the Pit Deadites, an impossible task I would say.
He built a bionic hand in 1387 AD. 'Nuff said!
He just forgot the words because he couldn't write them on a paper. He's an EVERYMAN and we're dealing with ancient Sumerian words. Bad Ash's creation had kinda "shocked" him hours before. PTSD did the rest. He just forgot half of the last word anyway. "Klaatu Verata NI-"... it was the very last syllable. Not even the whole word or the whole incantation.

His "error" led to the war with the Evil Dead (and mind you, the Evil Dead was already awaken when he arrived in 1387 AD). However, he successfully retrieved the Book of the Dead.
He trained the soldiers. He used "science" to invent new weapons.
He managed to turn Henry the Red into an ally.
They won the battle together.
He destroyed Evil Ash.
A new kingdom was born thanks to Ash, and this new Kingdom will lead to the foundation of Great Britain. Remember, this is a fixed timeline like "12 Monkeys" (the movie).

 

Idiot? No. Not at all. Actually, Replicant Ash was pretty smart, like his "predecessor"/template from TED/ED2.

I JUST love the fact that, one more time, Raimi suggested the undeniable concept of the Deadites being all part of one single entity: the Kandarian Demon a.k.a. The Evil Force a.k.a. The Evil Dead.

Indeed:

1- Kelly's Deadite Mother knew that Ash's true name was "ASHLEY" ("Ash" may just be considered as being a nickname or a fake name, but she did know the real name was "ASHLEY"). She even recited Henrietta's specific nursery rhyme... that's so sweet, because it shows that Evil Cheryl, Evil Henrietta and Evil Mommy were just part of the same entity: The Kandarian Demon.

2- Pablo also hinted at the possibility that "the Evil Force" jumped into Kelly's father too.

3- Ash referring to "THE" Evil as one single enemy, "the thing" they must destroy and which ruined their lives forever.

It's very simple:

1- The lead character is the "Ash duplicate" who battled the Army of Darkness in 1387 AD, not the original Ash (white streak) who materialized in 1300 AD and spent his entire damned life battling the Deadites. Okay.

2- This means the original ending of AoD is not canon. Okay.

3- Since this Ash is a duplicate, he is "flawed". In AoD he just "remembered" that he went to the cabin with Linda (short-haired). Now he is mixing up his 1979 memories ("the friends") with the 1987 memories...
It's okay. He's the "Hail to the King" Ash after all.

4- We can assume he discarded the metallic cyborg hand for some technical reason. Okay.

5- We can pretend the series is set in 2017. 1987 + 30 = 2017. Okay.

6- The Evil Dead 2013 remake is just a nightmare Ash was having. He awoke and just told himself: "GROOVY!". The ED 2013 ending coda is the key to understand the movie. Or maybe Ash was "intercepting" memories from an alternate universe. Okay.

"Ash is a normal guy who can comfortably negotiate a mild psychosis while confronting the supernatural. That steely resolve of his to not completely lose his marbles is what makes him so appealing. It's like how a little venom in your blood can make you immune to a snake bite. Ash, by sheer will power, can embrace the insanity of a situation, shielding himself in a protective ego trip (hail to the king, baby!) and ultimately emerge out the other side a functional human being. He might be a little bit damaged but his personality needs to be carefully balanced. Ultimately it needs to be taken somewhat seriously. Ash isn't a goofball outright. Ash has stared into the abyss. Sequel or TV series?

Hello Winged Deadites... hello.

 

What has the future in store for us Evil Dead fans? The scenario is a bit confusing now.

 

We got the classic movie which scared the hell out of everyone in the eighties (and beyond), The Evil Dead.

 

We got a distant sequel, set many years since the events of the original movie, which expanded the mythology and the Ash character even further. Evil Dead II.

 

We got a spin-off movie featuring the adventures of a crazy duplicate of the original character, a movie which became a cult classic in its own right without revolving on the couple of "proper" Evil Dead movies. Army of Darkness.

 

We got a remake-reimagining of some sort, which was successful. Almost 100 millions of dollars worldwide, that's quite a figure if you ask me. Evil Dead. 

 

And now? Evil Dead sequel or TV series? I just want my favourite horror franchise to go on in some way, no matter what.

The wait is long, even.

Effects on duplicates

Being a flawed duplicate of the original and true Ash, AoD Black Haired Ash is susceptible to the reality-warping powers of the Evil Dead, wherever a normal human can only be possessed. Indeed, the Evil Dead was able to clone his organism and mold a fully-functional "mirror duplicate": Bad Ash. The process started with the creation of the Tiny Ashes. This unusual and twisted "fusion" kinda imbued the Evil Dead with the childish and lunatic side of AoD Black Haired Ash's consciousness, and that made the Kandarian Demon acting in an "odd" and "comedic" way since that point.

As corollary to this, Bad/Evil Ash is more human-like than a normal Deadite and his behaviour and organism often react in a "lunatic" way.

As a side note, the Vortex Necronomicon managed to physically "tweak" the body of the AoD Black Haired Ash.

Associates

In 1387 A.D. the Evil Dead was roaming again because the Necronomicon Ex Mortis. Three Books of the Dead were awaiting in an unholy cemetery. Since the AoD Black Haired Ash failed to correctly recite the incantation, the Evil Dead combined its essence with the power of the two Books left and the default demonic energy of the unholy cemetery and had the power to awake an old army of rogue and corrupt soldiers, turned into skeletons after normal post-mortem decay. The Army of Darkness was born. However, the spirits of the Demonic Skeletons had been heavily influenced by that specific manifestation of the Evil Dead, which was less brutal and more odd because its previous "fusion" with AoD Black Haired Ash via Tiny Ashes/Bad Ash.
